After checking out and testing the different classified ads scripts and themes out there (see previous posts), I can finally conclude that ClassiPress is by FAR the best software on the market! 
I purchased the software in early 2010 and have had an ongoing awesome experience and great success with it.

Back then, you could purchase from a number of different ClassiPress packages (I chose ‘Ultimate!’) but they have now, thankfully, streamlined their offering, making it easier to choose and even more appealing.
They’ve also leveraged their premium WordPress theme expertise, originating from ClassiPress, to create other great products that help the non-tech person create an awesome job board, coupon site and more.
What makes ClassiPress the best classifieds theme?
Tons of things:
- More features than any other classifieds ads software or script that I’ve come across and way too many to list here. You can see the full feature list at the bottom of this page.
- A highly active and supportive forum. Any questions get answered usually within an hour by a moderator or fellow user. Furthermore, this forum is only available to those that have purchased the software which helps to keep the rif-raff and spammers out. Prospective customers have access to a pre-sales forum.
- Unlimited lifetime updates. This is a seriously amazing perk! This means that your site will continue to get the latest features and evolve as the industry does.
- The ClassiPress software is run off WordPress. For those that don’t know, WordPress is a popular and free open source publishing platform. You simply install WordPress on your domain and then add Classipress on top of it to create a highly functional classified ads site. The main benefit of basing Classipress off WordPress is that you’ll have access to thousands of plugins which further enhance your site’s functionality. In addition, Google has been seen to favour blog type sites that are run off WordPress, increasing your chances of being ranked highly within search results.
- ClassiPress give you great installation instructions on all aspects of setting this up your site. I started my classified ads site without even knowing what WordPress was.
- At only $99, the theme is amazing value and priced lower than its competitors. I would have paid 5 times this without thinking twice.
- ClassiPress has an awesome, user friendly look and feel – way ahead of its dated competitors.
- You can install the site on an unlimited number of domains, exponentially increasing your ability to make money in the huge classified ads market where I make several thousands of dollars a month and where I believe many others can still make a LOT of money (as discussed here).

However, a site that has had stellar success if Tuff Classifieds that takes advantage of the classifieds market in India. This site makes thousands a month with AdSense alone!
The world is a place where millions of different products are bought and sold every day – that creates a million different opportunities for niche classified ads sites! I got started and discovered many great classified niches by playing around with the Google keyword tool and checking long-tail results for “buy” and “sell” and also trying to target less saturated geographical markets.

It is suggested that as AppThemes continue to release other awesome premium WordPress themes (which I was the first to purchase!) prices may be rising so take advantage before that happens! Chances are you’ll make your investment back in a day or two once your classified ads sites get up and running.
As I mentioned in my review of Noah’s Classifieds, I had a few more hiccups before I finally settled with my classified ads software of choice: Classipress.
That hiccup was Iki Classifieds, something that I found after my terrible experience with Noah. Now don’t get me wrong, this software was a lot better than Noah’s but it still wasn’t up to the standard I had hoped. Firstly and most importantly, the interface looks dated but I still went ahead with my purchase as I couldn’t find anything better and was desperate to get a few of my ideas off the ground. In a world of Web 2.0 and beyond, users want to deal with an interface that looks friendly and inviting. This script is going back to a dated directory look. In terms of features, it’s great that to have integration with Google maps, PayPal and AdSense but it’s a shame that it lacks simple things such as creating dropdown category menus, adding icons near categories, no lightbox feature for pictures, etc. And it costs $199!
When I discovered Classipress ($99!) I saw that it offered much greater functionality (enhanced further by thousands of WordPress plugins!) and it has a MUCH better default design. I was a little disappointed with Iki classifieds but I’m ecstatic with my purchase of Classipress – that’s the way you should be feeling after you make a product purchase!

One of the main purposes of this blog is to cover the world of Classipress, the classified ads software that I love. However, things weren’t always so rosy and I wasted a hell of a lot of time and money on other classified ads scripts before purchasing and endorsing Classipress.
The first of those mistakes that I’ll document is Noah’s Classifieds!
I stumbled across this script as it was ranked highly in Google for keywords related to creating a classified ads site. I forgave them for the tatty logo and poor site design that almost blinds you with raving colours. I thought, “oh well, these guys must have put all their effort into creating a great classifieds site” – boy was I wrong!
Here are a handful of the errors the I encountered along the way:
- This initially did not install on my server, something that I later found was a common problem with this script, and the Noah ‘customer service’ blamed my host which I have been using for several years without any problems. After some major work arounds, we finally got the script to work.
- I hoped that the next stage of my experience would be more positive but it was quite the contrary. Many features did not work as expected and I seemed to be spending a crazy amount of time modding the code to get it to work when I should have been spending my time promoting my site! The ‘support’ would continually refer me to the forum where there was minimal activity and I was on the verge of hiring someone just to get the standard features to work! Not the way it should go.
I ended up requesting a refund which was promptly declined and meant $199 went straight down the drain. However, what was more of a waste was the time and effort I spent trying to get the script to work. Rather than waste any more effort, I researched every other method of creating a Classified Ads site (made a few other mistakes!) but then finally settled with Classipress which I love and have had extraordinary success with. I provide more of an indepth analysis into Classipress in the Classifieds Theme post.
We love making classified ads sites and we think they’re amongst the best ways to make money online. Why? Because once they’re set up and have reached their ‘critical mass’, you don’t need to do anything! Here are our main reasons for why we think classified ads sites are such a great money maker:
- You can set them up within 20 minutes using powerful software such as Classipress
- You can pick from thousands of niches to enter. Your site may be differentiated by target area (country, city), product (cars, houses, dogs!) and price (offer free ads!)
- You can make money through AdSense, charging for ads, charging for featured ads and more
- Sellers create the site content for you and often promote their own ad, increasing your site’s ranking
The only work you have to put in is picking the niche (check the Google keyword tool for phrases related to buy / sell) and getting your site ranked for your target keywords, something that you can easily outsource for relatively little cost to one of the many website marketing companies.
Once you have around 10 ads listed, more ads from sellers generally flow in a lot faster. When you become the ‘place to go’ in your niche, you can then implement more monetizing methods such as paid ads.
We believe the key is in picking a niche that suits your skills and budget. If you have a large budget, you can probably afford to invest the time and money into providing a classified ads site for buying and selling all types of pets, as an example. If you have a small or non-existent budget, you may be better off targeting a more specific niche e.g. Labrador dogs for sale.
The Classipress software has made me thousands of dollars a month as I have been effortlessly able to enter new niches and set up a new site in minutes.
